Paul

Since his teens Paul has always loved Rock 'n' Roll with his favourite bands being Racey, The Jets, Showaddywaddy and,of course, Shakin Stevens. He had never been to a Rock 'n' Roll gig until he saw a local news television clip about Newton Abbott jive club and subsequently went to see his first band who happened to be Rockin' The Joint'.
This was the start of his journey on the Rock 'n' Roll circuit and although he couldn't yet dance, was shy and nervous he went to Brean where experienced a venue with over 700 jivers; he felt he was in heaven and met a lovely lady called Sandra. A strong romance was born and despite was driven lorries and running a drivers agency Paul found the Rock 'n' Roll was his main form of relaxation, 4 or 5 nights a week and all over the country.
Four years later Paul and Sandra parted, the Rock 'n' Roll continued but a lack of confidence was causing problems in many aspects of his life; but then things changed for the better as a fantastic lady started to show a big interest in Paul and his dancing.
That lady was Marie Lewis, a romance started and soon it turned into a whirl wind; within weeks she moved down from Lincoln to Devon and Paul proposed at a holiday rock Valentine week end on stage in front of 200 plus Rock 'n' Rollers with a poem. Marie accepted Paul's proposal and they married and honeymooned in Cyprus with many Rock 'n' Roll friends. The following year it was Marie's 50th birthday, Paul organised a party with Mark Keelys Good Rockin' Tonight (her favourite); the following night Paul put on a charity night with Rockin' The Joint for Tiverton hospital in memory of my father who lost his battle with cancer in 2003.
It was a cracking week end and people were so impressed that this was the birth of 'Paul n Marie's Rock 'n' Roll events.
Paul feels that in spite of huge debts being run up in the past he can put on spectacular events in the future; with the support of his friends, the new web site and every-bodies passion for Rock 'n' Roll things will go from strength to strength.
Paul's favorite bands include: The Kingcats, Mark Keelys Good Rockin Tonight, The Bobcats, The Atlantics, Jivestreet, Greg Gee and His Crazey Gang as well as Bernie Woods and The Forrest Fires.

Marie

Marie's first love is her cats, followed by horses, cooking, rock n roll and her dresses; Paul jokingly says that he knows his place - third in the list after the cats and horses! She use to show Persians at cat shows and was a very accomplished show jumper, a sport that she has recently returned to with her new horse which is large as he stands at 18.2 hands.
Marie is well known on the Rock 'n' Roll community in the Midlands area where she has been dancing a lot longer than Paul, more than twenty years in fact! She used to run a night club in Oxford where she ran a Rock 'n' Roll night that was not financially beneficial and subsequently gave up organising further events – Paul laughs “wise move love”.
Marie has been on various Rock 'n' Roll week-enders and holidays entered numerous competitions, she always looks her very best dressed ready to Jive and tries to make Paul look his best by kitting him out in a wide variety of drapes, shirts, shoes and socks that she's bought. Not surprisingly they both enjoy getting nice comments about the clothes they wear and their dancing style; as Paul likes to say 'we are a couple and we work together, but Marie does know how to bring the best out of me'.
Her love for Rock 'n' Roll music is similar to Paul's but she also enjoys bit of swing and modern jive; one of her favourite songs is 'Flip Flop and Fly' as well as a slow 'Me and Mrs Jones'.
Marie is a excellent cook and used to work in an old peoples home cooking for more than thirty residents, she loves organising dinner parties but prefers Paul out the way when they have friends around; everyone loves her cooking and many have asked her for cake recepies.
